About Anteo Fabris

I am a Swiss-American composer, drummer, and software engineer committed to cultivating a robust and thriving international music network through commissions, residencies, collaborations, and music festivals.

With composition degrees from the Yale School of Music (Masters of Music, 2019; Masters of Musical Arts, 2020) and Boston University (Bachelor’s of Fine Arts, 2013), I create my work on the foundation of academic rigor. Working professionally as a jazz drummer, I keep my ears on the beat, letting the ever-evolving scene inform my own musical evolution. I have written for theatre, opera, orchestra, chamber ensembles and an array of soloists.

I have been invited to the Yaddo Artist Colony, Bang on A Can Summer Festival, Boston University Tanglewood Institute, the São Paulo Composers Conference, the Valencia International Performing Arts Festival, and several other programs around Europe and the United States.

My private teachers have included David Lang, Chris Theofanidis, Martin Bresnick, Aaron Jay Kernis, and Joshua Fineberg. He has additionally received feedback on his work by Nico Muhly, Patricia Alessandrini (Stanford), Samuel Adler (Juilliard), Dmitri Tymoczko (Princeton), Amy Beth Kirsten (Curtis Institute), Robert Beaser (Juilliard), Günther Schuller, and has attended masterclasses by Steve Reich, Helmut Lachenmann, and Eve Beglarian.

As a teacher, I have had private students across a range of experience. I’ve held public-facing residencies, led workshops, and been a teaching assistant in orchestration and electronic music.

I spent four years as a software engineer for a ranking healthcare network. It taught me that while the field of engineering is extraordinarily fascinating, my true calling is in making music and guiding others in doing so.
